If you haven’t heard of www.ebates.com, I have a budget treat for you!
I first discovered www.ebates.com in November of 2010. Ebates is one of the easiest ways I save money when shopping online. Ebates has worked some magic to receive commissions from hundreds of different merchants (like Target, Walmart, Neiman Marcus, Macy’s… you can find almost any store, although sometimes they differ on the amount – if any – of cash back available) for online purchases made by the Ebates member community. When you click through the Ebates website to one of these merchants and purchase something online, you instantly receive cash back money in your ebates bank account, based on a percent of commission Ebates has negotiated with the merchant.
I use this site every time I shop online. When I need to buy something online (even dish detergent!), first, I click over to Ebates to see if the store I’m planning to buy from is one of the commissioned merchants. If so, the Ebates site will let you know the current cash back percent and any current coupon codes for the merchant. After I click through to the merchant site and purchase something, I get an email notification that I have cash back pending in my account. Ebates cuts me a check quarterly (or deposits into a checking account) – easy as that!
Last month, I discovered an AWESOME plug in from Google. Through the Google Chrome Web store, you can add an Ebates button on your Chrome browser that automatically tells you if the website you are on is an Ebates merchant, and gives you an option to click to instantly save money on any purchase through that site. So even if I forget to go to www.ebates.com first, my Google Chrome browser reminds me. How simple!
Yesterday I was searching for some new work shirts for Ryan. I went to Macy’s website, and found an awesome price on a clearance shirt. I was pleasantly surprised when my Chrome browser let me know that if I used my Ebates button, I would save an extra 9% on my purchase, AND Ebates shared some coupon codes I could add to my cart to save an extra 25%. Who doesn’t like that kind of easy free money?!
I hope you check out ebates.com – I have no doubt you will become a fan too!
